Are sit-ups the key to defined abs?

There is a lot of questioning surrounding whether core exercises such as sit-ups etc are key to gaining a six pack.

The answer is no.

In order to start to see defined abs, your body fat percentage needs to be around 13% for men and 20-22% for women. Therefore, you should cut fat by doing different types of cardio activity and recommended HIIT exercise to burn calories.

Following this, abdominal exercises will help gain a “six pack” and define the ab area but not until the body fat percentage range is achieved.

However, core exercises are obviously brilliant for strengthening your core and surrounding muscles and therefore should still be included in daily work out routines.
